1 dead, 11 shot in Ohio fraternity house shooting

A senior at Ohio's Youngstown State University was killed and 11 others, including six students, wounded during a party at an off-campus fraternity house on Sunday, authorities said.

Jamail Johnson, 25, was found with gunshot wounds to the head and legs. Johnson, who was slated to graduate this year, was a member of the university's Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Ohio's WKBN-TV reported.

Youngstown Police Lt. Franklin Palmer said the shooting happened during a party at the 55 Indiana Ave. home, where several fraternity members live.

Eleven other people were hit by gunfire, including six YSU students. All but three of the victims have been treated and released from the hospital.

During a press conference Sunday afternoon, YSU President Cynthia Anderson reiterated her condolences to the families of the victims and assured students, staff and families that the campus is safe, the station reported.

YSU Communications Director Ron Cole said that police presence has been increased and classes will be held as scheduled Monday morning.

Youngstown police have a suspect in the shootings.
