A Dangerous Inmate Convicted of Attempted Murder Escapes From Colorado Prison

A very dangerous inmate, convicted of attempted murder who is serving 20 to 40 year sentence, Douglas Alward, has escaped from Sterling Correctional Facility in Colorado.

According to a spokesperson from Colorado Department of Corrections, area residents have been notified via an emergency broadcasting system shortly before 1am.

Douglas Alward, serving 20 to 40 year sentence, is convicted of attempted murder, assault, burglary, kidnapping and escape out of La Plata, Fremont prison and Chafee County prison.

Residents are encouraged to call 911 immediately to report anything suspicious.

Douglas Alward, 48 years old, is a male Caucasian. He weighs approximately 152 pounds and is 6 feet, 1 inch tall. He is believed to be wearing tennis shoes and either green pants and a green shirt (prison issued uniform) or grey sweat pants and white -T-shirt.

Alward was last accounted for in prison during roll-call at approximately 9:09pm. He was not available during the 10pm roll-call.
